Getting back to ceramics

Little Creatures in process.I am getting ready for a bisque firing by painting some little creature figurines.  They evolve as I play with the clay, must be from the many animals that have always been part of my life.

Work in progress for my next group exhibition.

Here are two pieces that I am currently working on. I am experimenting with a smaller format to my usual pieces which have been quite large. These images are both using ink on paper.

This image is representational although presented with colours that take it into abstract.

This image is aimed to be fantasy with the lighting hopefully capturing a magical quality. I have had feedback that it is like a Balinese hut and although I haven’t been to Bali (yet) I do get what they mean. Maybe I am influenced by a trip to Tahiti or even to New Guinea, somewhere I visited in my teens.

Welcome to my new blog!

I am an artist based in the Mornington Peninsula, a beautiful setting close to the sea and an hour from the Melbourne CBD.  I work in ceramics, mixed media on paper and more recently have started to work with ink on paper.  Having purchased a new fangled sewing I am getting back into textiles along with making brooches out of found objects and beads. Have are some recent brooches I have created.
